PM5000A/B/C gamma, neutron and gamma-neutron radiation monitors for rail transport control are used in conjunction with a wheel counter system that allows determining the wagon that triggered the alarm. They can also be equipped with a video surveillance system and combined with an automated operator's station, which enables immediate reaction and allows to document events detecting sources of ionizing radiation.

Railway monitors are designed for building in customs control points and at border crossing points in order to counteract illegal transfer of nuclear and radioactive materials across national borders and within their territories. All models of the РМ5000 series monitors are constructed using a universal gamma and neutron detection block.

Detection blocks are mounted on special metal stands placed on a concrete foundation. They work without distortions in conditions of high vibrations and electromagnetic disturbances caused by the network and transit of rail transport.
